WHO’S ON MY STAGE? ~ Author Interview #2… Lisa Fulham!

It is with great pleasure I introduce my very special friend, author, and all-round awesome woman, Lisa Fulham!

Lisa’s debut novella, Out On Business, hit the electronic shelves in July this year and has received a fantastic response from lovers of erotica the world over. For this spirited Brit, I asked her to kick off a new interview format I’m playing with. But before I get to that, here’s the blurb!

When Lucy Hunt is informed by her boss she will be accompanying him on a weekend long conference; she wonders how she will be able to keep her thoughts on her work. Vivid dreams of all the things she would like to do to Mr Casey have given her many sleepless nights. A weekend in his company sounds like heavenly torture.

Blake Casey is all business and no play.  Could his shy and bashful PA be the one to change all that in just a weekend?

When the company goes Out on Business, fantasies are experienced, stockings are worn and suits are torn apart.

Let Casey advertising company give you a pitch you won’t want to forget.

1. Favorite fairy tale or cartoon character?

“My favorite fairy tale is Beauty and the Beast. The love and acceptance in that story humbled me even from an early age. I also know all the words to all the songs. My modern day favorite character is Eugene from Tangled. I love that one too.”

2. Biggest fear?

“I’m not big on fears, such as heights and things like that. I do hate spiders, though. I fear people not knowing how important they are to me. I fear people leaving and the biggest fear is not being there when someone needs me.”

3. Five words your friends and family would use to describe you?

“Oh god, this is a hard one…ermmmm – mouthy, funny, inappropriate, caring and ditzy. On a good day that is.”

4. Something that makes you smile?

“I LOVE giving gifts or knowing that something I did made someone happy. I smile when friends tell me they’ve achieved something, or when my daughter has tried something she didn’t think she could do. I tend to find my own happiness in knowing others are happy.”

5. Strangest sex position?

“Trying to get it on in a mini was pretty funny and the positions we tried to get into were pretty strange. Let’s just say it wasn’t one to try too often and wasn’t all that satisfying, to be honest. We ended up getting out of the car and carrying on atop of the thing.” 😉

6. Favorite animal?

“I love dogs. If I could, I would have an ex-police German Shepherd, but hubs doesn’t like big dogs and we don’t have the time to give a dog that size the exercise it needs.”

We had a German Shepherd when I was a kid. His name was Tiger. He attacked so many people who decided they’d take no notice of the ‘Beware of the Dog’ sign on our front gate that we ended up giving him to the police force. My dad visited him years later and was told he was the best dog they’d ever had.

7. Stranded on a deserted island, what three things would you want with you?

“Pen and paper (I’m counting that as one) so that I could write. A guitar so that I would be forced to learn how to play it as I’ve always wanted to. Vodka, to go with all the pineapples from the pineapple trees.”

8. Your worst guilty pleasure?

“I sing Jingle Bells all year round when I’m happy, and most of the time I don’t even realize I’m doing it.”

LOL A true sign of a crazy person. Love it!

9. First book you remember reading?

“As a little girl, I loved stories about The Wuzzels, that I had. The characters were all two animals mixed together. There was a hippo that had butterfly wings and a lion that was half bumblebee. I still have them now.

“My first novel was a book called Teachers Pet and it was a part of the point horror collection.

“My first erotic book was Secret Diary of a London Call Girl, although it is very tame compared to what I’ve since moved on to.”

10. Last song you sang out loud?

“Because You’re Gorgeous by Babybird, although last week I ruined Superstitious and Twist and Shout at karaoke, which was quite fun.”

11. Silliest/funniest fantasy?

“I don’t think I have a silly or funny fantasy, if I’m honest. I do think it would be quite funny if hubs and I met in a bar, pretended not to know each other and then chatted each other up. I’d probably shoot him down just for the giggle. My sense of humor can be quite black at times. LOL”

12. Earliest memory?

“My fourth birthday party. My big brother sitting on the floor with me playing with my new doll and helping me set up all the things she came with.”

13. First single/album you ever bought?

“Jason Donovan, Sealed With a Kiss…back with the faded jeans and blond floppy hair.”

14. Most embarrassing moment?

“I have FAR too many to count, but one time I was walking down the stairs with the hoover and fell. The front door was right at the bottom of the stairs and it was open. I landed half out of the front door, head first and with my school skirt over my head. As you can imagine, at fifteen with my arse up in the air, I was mortified. That was made worse when a group of lads walked past my house. Oh, the shame.”

15. Favorite TV show of all time?

“God, you’re mean lady! I loved Heartbreak High growing up. I’m a HUGE Dr Who fan and I love NCIS.”

16. Five people (dead or alive) you’d most want to invite to a dinner party?

“Now this is a question I love. Queen Elizabeth the First. Henry the Eigth. Steve Irwin (are you seeing an Aussie trend in this interview?). A very close friend I lost. Robbie Williams (I’ve had dirty thoughts about that man before I knew what dirty thoughts were).”

Yes, definitely an Aussie trend! And I won’t even bag you regarding Jason Donovan. That’s true friendship, right there!!

17. Naughtiest thing you did as a kid?

“The first year my eldest brother had his own money and had bought everyone gifts, I had been rummaging in his room and found mine. I played with it everyday until it was gone (he must have wrapped it), and when it came to Christmas day I didn’t want to play with it because I was bored with it. I’ve never told him though.”

18. Favorite poem or poet?

“My favorite poem of all time is Stop All The Clocks by W. H. Auden, and let’s face it, Shakespeare will forever remain the king of poetry.”

19. Strangest/riskiest place you’ve had sex?

“On top of a mini in the middle of a park.”

20. What would you ask for if given your “last meal”?

“Roast dinner with all the trimmings.”

*** Excerpt from Out On Business ***

His voice was so close she almost jumped out of her skin and it took her a moment before she realised he’d asked her a question. She had never been asked to dance before and whenever she had watched a scene in a movie, where the guy asked the girl to dance, she’d always thought it was staged. No one asked that question these days. Oh, how wrong she could be. She was also wrong about her doubts that a girl could really melt at such a request.

She couldn’t help the smile that broke out on her face, “I’d love to, Mr Casey.” She turned around to face him and her smile grew wider. There he stood, bent at the waist, offering his hand to her just like a real prince charming. This ball just kept getting better and better.

The hour was getting late and the music had slowed. She placed her hand in his and he guided her to the centre of the dance floor. People surrounded them, but it didn’t appear that any of them had paid the couple any attention. The opening bars of Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls filled the room. The stunning modern love song was a beautiful tale and one of Lucy’s all-time favourites.

Blake entwined his fingers with hers and firmly pulled her flush against his body. He wrapped an arm around her waist and looked deep into her eyes.

“I’ve never danced like this before, Blake. I don’t want to stand on you or fall.” Fuckity, fuck, fuck, fuck! I’m going to have my first ever real dance, and I just know I’m going to make a fool out of myself. Dear God, if you don’t let me fall on my face I promise to donate more money to charity and spend less on hosiery. She knew she was shaking like a leaf. She needed to get a grip of herself if she was going to last the next three-and-a-half-minutes on her feet.

“Lucy, I’ve got you. I won’t let you fall.” His thigh pressed against hers, pushing her leg back, and they took their first steps of their first dance.

Blake’s body was moulded to hers. Every move he made told her what she should do. They floated around the dance floor with only eyes for each other. The room and the people in it all fell away. In this dance, there was only the two of them and the beat to which they moved their bodies.

Tormented Soul

On the outside is a smile

But on the inside, a frown

You do not know the real me

Choose only to see the clown

Does the darker side of me

Make you uncomfortable?

Do you squirm? Do you twitch?

Am I that insufferable?

Beauty is only skin deep

Yet all you see is the shell

Would it make any difference

To know my mind lives in hell?

Do I sometimes cross your thoughts

When you go about your day?

Do you ever think of me?

Do you know the price I pay?

Torment scratches at my door

But with a smile, I still feign

Pick myself up, brush it off

Though still live and breathe the pain

It’s corroded my frail heart

Made me who I am today

Broken rose-coloured glasses

The world has left me this way

You can take everything I have

I don’t need it anymore

Am due to meet the devil

Then I will settle the score
